RFP Manager 2024

The RFP Manager is a key member of the BookNook Revenue Organization. You will lead the strategic development and execution of our organization's RFP processes tailored to BookNook’s High-Impact Tutoring solution. This role is pivotal in delivering compelling RFP responses that address the unique needs of educational institutions and align with our company's mission to transform education for K-8th grade students through high-impact tutoring in both reading and math.

Key Responsibilities at BookNook will include:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic initiatives for managing RFPs, ensuring alignment with educational trends and client needs.

  2. Process Optimization: Establish efficient RFP processes and templates specific to BookNook’s solution, continuously refining workflows to enhance effectiveness and scalability.

  3. End-to-End Proposal Process Management

  • Source RFP notices, vet/shred requests for proposal (RFPs), determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, and lead Go/No Go meetings.

  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates.

  • Develop proposals by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

  • Manage proposal submission process, ensuring the responses meet all requirements and are delivered ahead of the deadline.

  • Oversee all district communications under the cone-of-silence, and lead the sales-handoff process upon award.

  • Continually monitor for RFP award updates, communicate changes to the team, and conduct post-mortem evaluations to include FOIA scoring requests.

  1. Technology Integration: Evaluate, vet, and implement new RFP technologies and tools tailored for the EdTech industry, optimizing efficiency, data management, collaboration, and proposal quality.

  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with sales, product development, and program management teams to gather insights and ensure RFP responses reflect our innovative solutions and educational impact.

  3. Team Management: Guide and support a team of internal proposal contributors including content creators, compliance specialists, and subject matter experts, fostering a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality proposals.

  4. Quality Assurance: Oversee the review and approval process for all RFP submissions, ensuring compliance with requirements, accuracy of content, and compelling storytelling.

  5. Market Insight: Conduct market analysis and competitive research within the EdTech landscape and BookNook submissions/responses to inform proposal strategies and differentiate our offerings effectively.

  6. Professional Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members to deepen their familiarity and understanding of their role in the RFP process.

  7. Operational Support: Complete vendor registrations for states and districts to support contracting.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with technical writing, creative writing, or proposal writing.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in RFP management within the EdTech industry, demonstrating success in delivering impactful proposals and managing complex projects.

  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of leading teams to achieve strategic objectives and deliver high-quality results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information and educational benefits clearly and persuasively.

  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of educational technology solutions and their application within diverse educational environments.

  • Flexibility and the ability to multitask and quickly prioritize work assignments to deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., APMP, Certified Educational Technology Leader) preferred.
