Pluton is seeking a Research Associate I to join the Molecular Biology team. This position will primarily support next-generation sequencing and qPCR applications across Pluton’s Research & Development. Pluton is a fast-paced, rapidly changing startup. Responsibilities

  • Execute a variety of molecular biology techniques and established protocols including PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA extractions, and next-generation sequencing library creation.
  • Support operation and maintenance of automated liquid handlers.
  • Handle, organize, and track large numbers of samples.
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Analyze and report data and results within and across teams.
  • Conduct research in accordance with or exceeding all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.
  • Pluton is a microbial company so knowledge of standard microbiological techniques such as sterile technique, serial dilutions, preparation of liquid and solid culture medias, etc. is a plus.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Familiarity with general molecular biology techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to independently manage time, projects, and work quality.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • This position requires the ability to sit, stand, lift 20 pounds, and repetitive pipetting.
  • You must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.

Salary

$45,000 - $55,000 per year
