Pluton Biosciences is an AgTech startup focused on climate-positive solutions for agriculture. We develop microbial products aimed at fixing nitrogen and capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, enriching soils and supporting sustainable farming practices. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments involving microorganisms.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for experiments, including soil, media, petri plates, microorganisms, and other necessary supplies.
  • Process and analyze soil and biological samples, both in-house and via contracted services.
  • Execute biological and chemical analyses of samples, preparing them for further testing.
  • Maintain and update experiment data using electronic notebooks and databases.
  • Assist with off-site field experiments, including potential travel and overnight stays.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure quality control of experimental setups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate efficiently.
  • Analyze and present experimental data, contributing to ongoing research progress.
  • Review and analyze relevant scientific literature to support experimental work.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Strong laboratory skills including the use of micropipettes, balances, and microscopes.
  • Experience with microbial cultivation and aseptic techniques.
  • Comfortable working independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to travel to field and greenhouse sites and perform on-site work.
  • Must be a reliable team player and able to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have reliable transportation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with greenhouse, field trials, and horticultural settings.
  • Knowledge of microbial culture growth and environmental science techniques.
